Interview prep

Four things that consistently separate strong candidates from the rest.

Know the firm

  • Read our practice focus and the families we serve.
  • Skim recent firm news and case wins.
  • Have a clear answer for why The Legacy Lawyers, specifically.

Prepare your stories

  • Use the STAR format: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
  • Have three examples ready: a win, a mistake, a conflict resolved.
  • Quantify outcomes wherever you can.

Nail the video interview

  • Test your camera, mic, and connection 15 minutes early.
  • Choose a quiet, well-lit space with a neutral background.
  • Look at the camera when answering, not the screen.

Sharpen your resume

  • Lead each bullet with an action verb and a result.
  • Keep it to one or two pages, reverse chronological.
  • Mirror the language used in the job description.

Questions to expect

  • Tell me about a time you had to calm an upset client or colleague.
  • Describe how you keep track of competing deadlines.
  • What does 'serving others' look like in your day-to-day work?
  • Walk me through a project you owned from start to finish.
  • Where do you want your career to be in five years?

Questions worth asking us

  • What does success look like in the first 90 days?
  • How does the team handle high-volume weeks?
  • What growth paths have people in this role taken?
  • How would you describe the culture on this team?

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for a role at The Legacy Lawyers?+

Browse open roles and submit the online application with your resume. If nothing matches today, send a general application — we review every submission and keep strong candidates on file.

What happens after I submit my application?+

You'll receive a confirmation right away. Our recruiting team reviews applications on a rolling basis and typically responds within five to seven business days.

What does the interview process look like?+

Most roles follow three stages: a recruiter screen, a team interview with the hiring manager, and a final conversation with firm leadership. Some positions include a short practical exercise.

Are interviews in person or virtual?+

First conversations are usually virtual by video. Final-round interviews are often held at the Irvine or Torrance office so you can meet the team and see the space.

Do you hire candidates without prior law firm experience?+

Yes. Client care and administration roles frequently hire from outside legal. We look for judgment, ownership, and genuine care for people — the legal knowledge is trainable.

What should I bring or send ahead of my interview?+

An updated resume is enough. Paralegal and attorney candidates may be asked for a short writing sample or references later in the process.

Do you offer relocation or remote work?+

Our roles are based at our California offices in Irvine and Torrance. Some positions offer hybrid flexibility once you're fully ramped.

How long does the whole process take?+

Typically two to four weeks from application to offer, depending on the role and scheduling.
